Filmmaker to receive award at Turkey fest

‌Iranian director Rakhshan Bani-Etemad has been selected to receive a lifetime achievement award from a film festival in Turkey.

The 7th edition of the Malatya International Film Festival in Turkey will honor the renowned Iranian filmmaker with a lifetime achievement award during its closing ceremony on November 16, organizers announced on Friday.

Bani-Etemad is also scheduled to attend a review session following the screening of her film ‘The Blue-Veiled’ (1995) at the festival on November 15.

Prominent Iranian actress Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, who starred in ‘The Blue-Veiled’, is a jury member of the festival.

Other Iranian films to be screened at the main competition section of the Turkish festival include ‘The Blockage’ by Mohsen Qarai and ‘Mothering’ by Roqieh Tavakkoli.

Iranian short films ‘Common Hole’ by Asma Ebrahimzadegan and ‘Voice’ by Dariush Najafigol will also be screened at the festival.

The 7th Malatya International Film Festival will open on November 9 – 16 in the Turkish city of the same name.
